About the Book:
Naya, the daughter of a sea merchant captain, nervously undertakes her first solo trading mission in the necromancer-friendly country bordering her homeland of Talmir.
Unfortunately, she never even makes it to the meeting.
She's struck down in the streets of Ceramor. Murdered.
But death is not the end for Naya. She awakens to realize she's become an abomination--a wraith, a ghostly creature bound by runes to the bones of her former corpse. She's been resurrected in order to become a spy for her country.
Reluctantly, she assumes the face and persona of a servant girl named Blue.
She never intended to become embroiled in political plots, kidnapping, and murder.
Or to fall in love with the young man and former necromancer she is destined to betray.
My Review: Although this book was a set up for the world and series the author did an amazing job keeping me on the edge of my seat as well as making me cry! This was one emotional ride with Naya/Blue and those she comes to care for. I really enjoyed how it started out with Naya thinking that all those risen from the dead were evil and how her views changed over the course of this story. The growth that she went through was wonderful and I can not wait to see what the author does with the next book. Which by the way I need like yesterday because that ending was just heartbreaking, it killed me dead and made me cry!
The world building was extravagant in this one! We learned about their past in a way that it didn't feel like info dumping which was great and it gave us the information that we needed to understand the situation.
The story itself was well paced and didn't leave any loose ends. I really liked how it all progressed. Although there were a few places that this one was slower those worked for this story. I was very glad to learn that there isn't really that much romance in this one at all and no love triangle. It does have a killer cliffhanger but I am hoping that it all gets solved in book two. Because man that made me cry!
The characters were all wonderful! I loved everyone as well as the beings that were brought back from the dead. I haven't read that many books about Necromancy but the ones that I have read have been hit or miss. This one though the author did an amazing job with the subject!
In the end, for this one, it was one crazy ride!
Go Into This One Knowing: Romance Light, No Love Triangle, Cliffhanger ðŸ˜ðŸ˜, Necromancy
